Today I went to “Sakaba soda Sendai” in Sendai on my way home from work.
Sendai is famous for Kokubuncho, the worst entertainment district in Tohoku. Drunk Uncle has made a name for himself in the area as the Don Juan of Michinoku (self-proclaimed Don Juan), but as my mind and body grow older, the city becomes too busy and I feel a bit worn out, so I decides to head to another spot.
Sakaba Soda Sendai is directly connected to Sendai Station and is often visited on a casual basis. This is a branch of “Taishu Sakaba BEETLE” whose main store is in Kamata, and by the way, there is also “Taishu Sakaba BEETLE Sendai” in the west exit area.
It’s more of a Showa retro/neo style restaurant, so I’m not really into it, but it’s a restaurant that doesn’t care about the details and has good food and drinks.
“BEETLE” is a place of relaxation for the generation known as “baby boomer juniors.” One of the things that the junior baby boomer generation was passionate about when they were children was beetles, which gather in trees in search of nectar. The store’s name is a combination of this habit and the appearance of visiting public bars. Well, I certainly like how beetles look like this, and I can understand why they flock to trees in search of nectar. Aiko is also from that generation, and if you like Tetra Pot, you’ll probably like “soda” too. So I headed to the bar.
The bar is a little hard to find, but it is located on the first floor of the east exit of Sendai Station. Once you get used to it, you will be able to walk in a staggered manner.

The inside of the store is very clean, and is easy to enter not only for old men, but also for female customers and couples who love Showa retro. Compared to “BEETLE”, the lighting in the store is brighter, and as a good old man who wants to drink the sap of adults like a beetle at night, I don’t like it a little. It’s a bit embarrassing if it’s too bright.

Also, since the amount is so large that if you pour it normally, you’ll end up spilling the shochu, so the correct way is to bring the shochu to the top of the glass and let it drip. You can make 3 to 4 cups, so you can drink deeply..

However, today I additionally ordered furofuki radish and cream cheese Shuto. Shuto(written in Japanese Kanji, Sake thief) is the legendary otsumami (there are various theories) that says that if you eat together, the alcohol will disappear as if it were stolen. Naturally, the spa salad is served with soy sauce. It goes perfectly with Hoppy. However, the amount of shochu does not decrease as usual.
Furofuki radish and Shuto arrive. After drinking up the Hoppy, I ordered the long-awaited item… Shirayuki (second grade sake).
In any case, when you need to drink sake right away, instead of ordering hot sake or lukewarm sake, which takes a lot of time and effort, choose room temperature instead. He faces off with a counter attack that looks like a komuso.

By the way, Shirayuki can also ask for Gogo(900ml). If you order 2 drinks, 10 go = 1 sho(1800ml)… If you feel like drinking deeply, without saying anything, try it next time.
