A long-established restaurant founded in 1945, the specialty curry soup is amazing… This place needs to be registered as a World Heritage Site for Drunk Uncle bars again. You must go here…
Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!
Today I went to “Oshokujidokoro Shinkyo” in Hiroshima on my way home from work.
Nagarekawa is the most feared downtown area in the Chugoku region, where thugs, gangsters, touts, and pimps roam the streets, but I didn’t come to a hostess bar or a pink-themed place… My goal this time was to go to a long-established restaurant, or bar, or at least a nice place. This bar was a favorite of Drunk Uncle, and I really regretted not having visited it before…

As always, let’s start by checking out the exterior of the bar. You can tell by the curtain, right? It’s a very famous bar. The sign is also good. I’ll try not to worry about the lack of consistency in the fonts on the various signs, curtains, etc. There’s no point in saying something so rude.

Looking at the exterior a bit more, it seems that the specialty is the “original curry soup.” And on the wall is a sophisticated sign that reads “Meni Iuu (Menu).” Perhaps there used to be various things posted on the wall. The statement “Fast, cheap, and delicious” is also good. I am drawn into the store.

Even though it was almost 10pm, the restaurant was almost full, so we were shown to the counter in the back. There were many menus on the wall. Various types of Mamitsu were displayed in the sushi display case.

Quite a selection. Guilty for displaying things this way, but everything looks delicious…
I control my excitement and start by choosing an adult drink. There is no Hoppy, of course, so the only choice here is “sake,” which is all there is…

A bottle of Hiroshima’s regular sake “Seikyo” arrives. Gulp! It tastes just like the usual, like something I’ve known for ages, and I’m so happy… We’re best friends.
After taking a sip of the adult drink, the next thing is the snack. “Curry soup” is a must, and I order macaroni salad. If I can’t decide between potato salad or macaroni salad, I’ll go with the latter…

Foods arrive. The curry broth has a smooth texture like soup curry, and it’s delicious. The gentleman next to me orders rice, but I, Drunk Uncle, would like to add ponshu to it, gulp! Sake is made from rice, so it’s like eating curry rice cooked in your mouth, right…? Macaroni salad also arrives, and the chef adds mayonnaise to it at the end, which is a big plus for a mayonnaise lover. Gulp! If I wash this down with sake, it’s a new way to cook in my mouth…
Gulp&Gulp! Let’s finish drinking Seikyo and then leave the bar.
I’ve come across so many great bars recently that I can’t keep up with the application to register as a World Heritage Site for Drunk Uncle…
The curry soup was delicious, too, and it’s a long-established bar. It was really good… If I’m ever in Hiroshima, I’ll definitely come here. See you…
