An emergency visit to a corner bar in Hiroshima… We’ve arbitrarily certified it as one of the “Top 100 Best Bars for Drunk Uncle.”
A famous kakuuchi that makes you think, “This is what’s so great about it”.
There’s even a cute dog…? An animal and alcohol appreciation festival is currently underway.

Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!

Today I went to “Tokeisou” in Hiroshima on my way home from work.

Having wandered around Hiroshima city for quite some time, I thought I wouldn’t come across any new bars… But then I happened upon today’s adult playground.

About a 10-minute walk from Yokokawa Station, there’s a kakuuchi bar called Tokeisou, run by Watanabe Liquor Store, and for those who love corner bars, it’s a must-see…

This bar is in a good mood… I haven’t seen the inside of kakuuchi bar yet, but I can sense that it’s a great one.

As always, check out the exterior.
The noren curtain is new, turquoise blue, I think? A cool color… The circular sign is nice, too. Well, I guess I’ll take a breather before going inside…

There are already a few regulars inside the bar. Places like this tend to be meeting places for local gentlemen, so we have to be careful not to cut off the conversation between the owner and customers…

Although I’m Drunk Uncle with a flea’s heart, I calmly settle into a standing area here.
Should I take a look at the menu while listening to the conversation between the regulars?

First, adult drinks. Hohoho… there’s quite a variety. From soft serve ice cream to sake, dude, it’s like a cradle-to-grave situation… Should I ascend to heaven today…?

This is the only adult drink on this menu… If I don’t choose this, my ancestors will cry in their graves. “Shiro Hoppy” is the only choice, right? Master, please.

ホッピー330か…

The adult drink arrives. This Hoppy is not the returnable commercial Hoppy, but the home-use “Hoppy 330.” You see that in your local supermarket, right? It’s about 30ml less than the commercial version, but the contents are the same. The commercial Hoppy is basically distributed in Kanto and Eastern Japan, so here in Hiroshima it’s inevitably “Hoppy 330”.
Some people say nonsensical things like the returnable commercial Hoppy is better, but alcohol isn’t about the label, you should drink it with your heart, right? So, let’s put the complicated stuff aside and gulp! Delicious.

After quenching my thirst, the next thing is Tsumami(food), in other words, Mami-tsu, right?

マミツーメニュー確認

There’s a laminated standard menu and a daily special on the whiteboard. There are a lot of options, but here I’ll go with potato salad and tendons.

Otsumami arrives. You can feel the love from the owner… Both are delicious. Gulp! I wash them down with Hoppy.
Of course, after one bite of the potato salad, soy sauce is drizzled on top, and I have a health check coming up, so I have to be careful not to consume too much salt.
It’s a nice, homey corner bar where you can have a drink in peace, I was thinking to myself when suddenly a dog appears…!?

威風堂々登場

Its name seems to be Mochi. It appears on the owner’s blog from time to time, so check it out if you’re interested.

Animals and restaurants are like oil and water, and many people find it difficult to get along with them. However, this dog, whether he knows the word “share your place” or not, seems to know the answer and doesn’t seem to step out from the living space in the back to this side… At first, he barked at me, a newcomer, but after that, he stopped barking, probably because he sensed my animal-loving aura, so he’s not a stupid dog, no, he’s probably a smart dog.
I thought it would be nice to drink while watching cute animals. Thank you, Mochi-kun, for being my snack. I really wanted to pet you a little. Close contact will have to wait until next time…?

Gulp! If you wash away the emotional exchange with the dog with alcohol, you’ll forget about it right away. I got a little drunk just from the Hoppy, so I quickly left the bar. “Well… We’re going to break up!” (by Wanibuchi from “Bukkomino Taku”).

Tonight, I can’t decide whether to stay quietly at home like Mochi, or visit the “adult zoo” around Nagarekawa…

PS
Thank you, master, for the sticker.
