You like slum, squatter and black market places?
Brother, can you introduce me to a good place…?
Amid the tension of the eve of war, Drunk Uncle charges into a “post-war chaos” town.

Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!

Today I went to “Iroha” in Mizonokuchi on my way home from work.

Mizonokuchi… It’s no exaggeration to say that it’s one of the mecca for Kanagawa Prefecture’s Drunk Uncle… In contrast to Tokyu’s positive branding of the Denentoshi Line as high-class, trendy, and family-friendly, this town of stubborn stubborn people, remnants of the Showa era, and hardcore Showa-era old men, stands in direct opposition to that attitude of resisting the times, don’t you like it…?

For me, Drunk Unclet, this town is like my backyard, having lived in the neighborhood for the past few years. No matter how drunk I was, my abnormally developed homing instinct would lead me back to “Yasa” from this town, and it’s now a fond memory.
*Thank you to everyone who gave me a ride home that time, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Don’t forget to be grateful for the past. Then, let’s go drink until we forget all about it… right? “You can’t drink with memories,” right?

Coming here after a few years, I feel nervous even in the familiar town… is this what they call “a flea’s trembling”…? I have a weak heart, but should I give it a go?

I’ll take some photos of the neighborhood, street snaps.
There are stores for shopping…but there’s basically only bars, so there’s nothing in particular to buy.
There used to be a second-hand bookstore here, but it’s now turned into another drinking establishment.

If you go a little further, you’ll see something like this. It seems to be a residential road, but be careful as there are housewives on bicycles and Nokuchi kids buzzing around. It looks dangerous at first glance, right? It reminds me of Akabane’s Ichibangai Silk Road or the back alleys of Koenji. By the way, in Mizonokuchi, there is a huge, locally-based drinking conglomerate called the “Tamai Group.” If you throw a stone, you’ll find the Tamai Group, and if you come to Mizonokuchi, you’ll definitely want to stay, so don’t sleep on my doorstep!

Let’s go a few more meters… Both “Ninotetsu” on the right and “Yakiniku Tamai” in the back are Tamai chains… Tamai is not at a level where it’s a traffic jam… “Ninotetsu” is really delicious, so be sure to go there.

And finally, we arrived at today’s bar, “Iroha”… What do you think? It’s cool, right?

こんなん行くしかないだろが…?

You’d think it’s the obligatory exterior check… right? But look closely, this store is entirely open-air. Because it was a bit cold today, they’ve installed vinyl curtains or something like that.
In other words, there’s no concept of checking the exterior, it’s not even the interior. You might not understand what I’m saying, but that’s what I mean.

Thinking about this complicated stuff makes me want to have a drink… Let’s just hurry up and go inside, shall we?

渋いぜ

Today I was asked to sit down instead of standing. The inside of the bar looked like this. It’s not fixed to Channel 4 like Nagomi in Omiya, there are lots of TVs so you can watch behind the scenes programs as much as you like.
Drinking outside is the best in summer, with the sunset at my back, drinking Hoppy with a sense of guilt for skipping work, it’s a blissful time for Drunk Uncle… You might get fired from your company, so don’t try this at home, and if you do, it’s at your own risk, right?

Once seated, they asked, “What would you like to drink?” It’s rude to even ask that question… It must be written in the Kawasaki City Charter that “Your first drink should be Hoppy,” right? We have to comply with the law.

Here it comes, a drink for adults. Shochu… that’s right, it comes in a unique container… “Shochu, the liquor of a burning man” – I don’t know what that means, but it’s a perfect fit for the mood of Drunk Uncle right now.

If you make it as usual, you’ll get a Hoppy as usual. Gulp! Drinking Hoppy at Iroha is something special. Gulp! The atmosphere of the store makes for a great snack…
The atmosphere of the store alone would be boring, so let’s order some real snacks – Mami Tsu.
The skewers here are delicious, but they also have a variety of other great items…

I’ll choose the skewers as I like, such as Kashira or Yagen, and leave the flavor up to the chef. The rest will be macaroni salad.

There’s no point in waiting, so I took a photo. Not bad, Carp boy.

Foods have arrived. Gulp! They’re all delicious. The skewers are, of course, freshly grilled and mashed, so they’re very fresh. Gulp! They go perfectly with Hoppy, and I accidentally ran out of Hoppy. From here on out, it’s “ponshu time”…

First, I gulped down the second-class sake “Aizu Homare”! It was the best, right? It didn’t disappoint. Gulp! I drank and drank like a fish in water. Next, I ordered “Nigori Sake (seasonal limited edition)”.

Gulp! Nigori sake is tasty too, a lactic acid bacteria drink for adults. …I’m totally hooked.
There’s no turning back now, the outbreak of World War III, no, puberty, is inevitable…

Maybe I’ll pop into a familiar Thai massage parlor or a fashionable massage parlor, then stumble back to house…
