Today I went to “Izumiya Dainishiten” in Omiya on my way home from work.
On my way back from “Nagomi” in Omiya, my legs were sore so I wandered around the town looking for a bar where I could sit. “Izumiya Honten” would be fine, but today I decided to go to Dainishiten, the second branch… As usual, there are only thugs, pimps, touts, and bad foreigners in the Minami Ginza area… It’s a nice town.
Although the menu is the same at the second branch, it is no exaggeration to say that it is a completely different bar from the main branch. What is different? It is the customer service attitude of the famous old ladies. Compared to the tense atmosphere at the main branch, where the old ladies ignore customers when they call out to them and don’t seem to want to take orders (looking listless), the old ladies at the second branch are more responsive and accommodating… The average age at the main branch is probably in their 80s, and at the second branch, it’s probably around 70s? The profiling of this born looker is never wrong…
So, if you want to be able to order normally, drink a lot, and not get put off by the attitude of the older ladies, I recommend the second branch, but if you’re a drunk masochist who says, “I really, really want to meet a quirky older lady 💕,” I recommend the main branch…
I’m tired from standing at Nagomi today, and I don’t want to get annoyed by the old lady’s service, so I think I’ll play it safe and go to the second branch.
The store’s appearance and exterior are really good… The sharpness of the curtain, signboard, and lanterns are also exquisite. Point Takashi. It may be difficult for amateurs to enter, but once you’re there, paradise awaits. Suga Shikao is like, “Let’s take one more step forward”,right?
The inside of the bar is, for better or worse, the usual pub scene, with local thugs, middle-aged couples with their own problems, a Gen Z-loving couple who seem to have just met at Maching App while enjoying their hobby of “touring Showa retro items,” a group of thugs, and so on, all smooching around with their BFFs…

This is the three-item set for tonight. I’m happy that there are vegetables too… Gulp! It goes well with Hoppy, just like always. Mami Tsu is served quickly, and ordering more Naka goes smoothly too. It’s quite different from the main store. But… it’s a bit too easy. I can drink it normally without feeling nervous… that’s normal.
I paid the bill and left the store. It may be a bit wishy-washy, but I wish it had a bit more character.
