A famous restaurant near Takasaki Station. A “good” bar with great taste, great sake, and a great Okamisan. The regulars are also very heartwarming. Why not drink slowly and steadily like the “Takasaki Daruma”?
Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!
Today I went to “Daitengu” in Takasaki on my way home from work.
After Maebashi, it’s Takasaki… Hmm, this is my first time here. When I got off the station, I realized it was a bigger city than Maebashi. I’m sure there are some dodgy stores… As the saying goes, a gentleman should stay away from danger, so today I was wandering around at night “healthily”. Sakariba’s night patrols are no good either. The bottom is no good.
A new bar in a new town is definitely worth digging for. Shall we go?

Today’s scene, “Daitengu”. It looks good… The bar curtain and the lantern are perfect. I have no choice but to go in.

The shop is swarming with regulars. There are a few tables and a counter, and the Okamisan is the only one doing the work. “Don’t ride after drinking! Even bicycles are fined 300,000 yen!” I like their attitude of complying with the law. There’s no one here, the usual “Haruka Igawa”. But instead, there’s pinch hitter Miho Kanno… Naturally, I’m shown to the counter.
Shall we start with an adult drink? Here… Oh, they have my favorite Hoppy… I’ll order that first. Since I’m the only one working here, it’s difficult to keep the distance with the landlady, so I wait for the right timing to speak up.

Here it is, Hoppy, the adult drink I’ve been familiar with since childhood. It’s a commercial returnable bottle. Gulp! Hoppy in Joshu is especially delicious. While sipping, I watch the inside of the store. Is this a Daitengu Daruma… is this the Takasaki Daruma? I feel like drinking “like a Daruma” today… Should I check out Otsumami?

The black menu board is so cool. There’s cold tofu, grilled dishes, and cheese, it’s truly “from the cradle to the grave”. The other regulars are eating oden… aren’t they? I have no choice but to join in. I order a large serving of oden and grilled dishes (tsukune and liver).

A snap of the grill. It feels like a professional workplace. The regulars help the Okamisan with cleaning up. This kind of heartfelt interaction is great… Watching their interaction, it seems the Okamisan is offering the burnt yakitori for free because “it would be bad for the customers.” Isn’t she a bit too serious? But that kind of professionalism is great. A professional attitude makes you want to drink.

Today’s appetizer, boiled vegetables, and a plate of oden, which is available for immediate delivery, were delivered. It’s so good… I gulp it down! I pair it with Hoppy. Isn’t that bad? Next, the grilled food arrived…

Tsukune and liver, huh? The regulars kept nagging me to add their “secret spicy miso”… But when I tried it, I thought I’d been tricked, and it was delicious… I can drink alcohol with miso. Gulp down a Hoppy! It’s the best.
There seem to be other good bars in Takasaki, so I left early.
It was a great bar that made me want to stay longer… Take care, Okamisan.
