A standing bar with a friendly master.
A good restaurant where you can eat something typical of Hiroshima.
Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!
Today I went to “Moriya Tachigui Udon& Nomidokoro (Standing Udon & Drinking Place)” in Hiroshima on my way home from work.
The area on the west side of Hiroshima Station, which is undergoing redevelopment, is home to many old-fashioned bars. Particularly famous is the Osuga-cho area, known as “Ekinishi”, which is lined with shabby post-war restaurant streets. This section, which is filled with post-war air, has the same scale as Shinjuku “Golden Gai”, and has an untouchable atmosphere, as it seems to have complicated vested interests. Will the wave of redevelopment hit here someday?
Just one road south from Ekinishi, there are several standing bars in the area under the elevated tracks, and this time I visited “Moriya Standing Udon & Drinking Place”.

Looking at Google Maps, it looks like it used to be a hair salon.
The inside of the store is not very large, with a counter and tables made from beer cases. I’m glad that they have multiple types of sake as well. First, I ordered the Hiroshima sake “Seikyo”(this is the good one…).

Japanese sake is generally delicious no matter what you drink. Appetizers include Hiroshima greens kimchi, konnyaku with shishamo eggs, and fried sardines order.

The Taisho(master) will tell you various things. He says,
His friends asked him to do bar it because they had a good property, and the bar opened in 2024.
Hiroshima has many European and American tourists, and inbound tourists also seem to visit from time to time.
It’s located opposite the Hiroshima Carp’s home stadium, so even if there’s a baseball game going on, it doesn’t come that far. etc..

When I told him I wanted to try some more Hiroshima sake, he told me he had some good ones. What came out was “sake”.
Sorry, I was too drunk to remember the name. Well, this one is good too.
At a standing bar, the most important thing is to have a quick drink and leave quickly.
It was a standing bar where you could eat and drink delicious Hiroshima food without having to strain your shoulders.
