A standing bar run by a liquor store. You’ll really fall in love with this adult playground where you can eat candy and drink.
Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!
Today I went to “Kakuuchi Momoya” in Hiroshima on my way home from work.
“Momoya” is about a 30-minute tram ride from Hiroshima Station and about 30 seconds from the nearest Tenmacho Station. Although it takes a little while to travel from Hiroshima Station, if you come to Hiroshima, you should definitely stop by Drunk Uncle’s recommended kakuuchi bar.

Kakuuchi is standing bar run by the local liquor store (founded in 1955!) that sells a wide range of alcoholic beverages, including whiskey. Also Japanese sake, a variety of a la carte dishes, and even cheap sweets(dagashi) are available, so this is a paradise-like place.
Ask for a seat in the high chair. There are several table seats and standing seats inside the store, so you can have a quick drink and then leave, or have a “deep drink”.

Walking around the store. It goes without saying that Kakuuchi is basically a liquor store, so you can find a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, and you can buy what you drink and take it home. There are some sweets(dagashi) near the entrance, so choose what you like and take it to your seat.

Let’s take a look at the menu. First of all, drinks… No Hoppy on the menu, but I asked… Of course, they don’t have Hoppy, which is a shame. Order Hiroshima’s sake “Onigiri”. As for the Appetizer… ordered sausage and oden. Unfortunately, my favorite potato salad is sold out…

“Onigiri” is brought to me. My heart flutters. Delicious sake that you can drink like water.

Appetizer are delivered to me. Basically, it is a cash-on-delivery system, and the owner or landlady will ask you to pay each time. you should prepare a large amount of coins…
The okamisan seems to be a Snoopy fan, and you can see it everywhere in the store.
Sake goes well with oden, and I ended up drinking the sake as if they were second-class sake.

The next thing I ordered was the Japanese sake “Yoru no Teio”(king of the night), also from Hiroshima. The manga in the background is “Tokimeki Tonight”, so coincidentally, “night”overlapped with me. I drunk “Yoru no Teio” like water. I am not good at discribing the sabtle taste of sake, but I can tell the difference between “good” and “bad”. This is “good” one.

Since I ran out of my otsumami, I chose canned yakitori. Enjoy the unique sweet sauce with “Yoru no Teio”. I’m done.
Now that I’m in the good mood, I’m going to think long and hard in the tram about whether I should go to a hostess bar in the Nagarekawa area, or whether I should just go home…
