When you come to Shibuya, it’s Fujiya. I wonder if I’ll drink tonight until I fall over, what Markyu is to Drunk Uncle…
Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!
Today I went to “Tachinomi Fujiya Honten” in Shibuya on my way home from work.
Shibuya, Tokyo is one of the worst downtown areas in Tokyo. It’s crowded with young people, foreign tourists, Youtubers, and thugs, and I feel like I’m going to throw up from being so sick and hungover…
In recent years, redevelopment has been progressing at an abnormal pace, and the city changes every time I visit, making it difficult to keep up with its evolution. Are those old men who can’t adapt to the times going to be weeded out?
Meanwhile, “Tachinomi Fujiya Honten” was relocated from the old store due to redevelopment. I went to the basement store several times before it moved, and it would be no exaggeration to call it a famous bar. The new store is located on the ground floor slightly up the hill in the Sakuragaoka area. Due to the relocation and renewal, hasn’t it changed to Neo Izakaya, which is stylish and conscious with Showa retro skin? I came to the store with a slanted attitude.
But that was wrong…

Originally, it was a liquor store, and apart from this, it also operates a wine bar. You can’t go wrong with the sake they offer…

The interior of the new store has a nice and chic feel. The lighting in the store is not too bright, making it perfect for a long drink. We guarantee you the best drinking experience. The customer base seems to be younger than at the old store. In the past, on the day I asked Fujiya out on a date, my pager would have stopped ringing the next day.
Didn’t they become so attached to Shibuya’s popular culture that they forgot their original intentions and sold out? That arrogant view still persists. “Hey, Mr. Clerk!” I almost ordered a drink in a strong tone, but this was also a modern style of ordering from a smartphone. There are some people in some circles who are critical of self-ordering, but as a Drunk Uncle with a tendency to have trouble communicating, I’m a little grateful for this.
Aren’t they going to forget what they were thinking when they were founded and say something absurd like, “Please pair your sake with a fancy ethnic dish, escargot (snail), or canelé (an obsolete word) with a hoppy accompaniment?” The flavor from when it was founded must have been abandoned under the “Sakura Stage” where the old store was located, right? As always, I looked at the menu from above.

I’m sorry, but the taste of our founding has continued to live on… I freely admit that I was wrong. I’m sorry for doubting you about the Showa retro style Neo Izakaya. Everything on the menu is aimed at the Drunk Uncle, and is sure to hit the sweet spot in the middle… The famous ham kyabetsu, sashimi, and shumai… I want to eat them all, but I can’t choose them all. Forced to make the ultimate decision. The red circle mark says “Highly recommended”. It’s okay to be honest. Let’s go for it tonight.

Of course, I choose white hoppy, and Korui shochu is poured into a glass bottle. The engraving on the cup also shows the store’s pride. Even though times have changed, Hoppy remains delicious.

Today’s appetizers will be delivered to you. This one also has the same taste and same hoppy taste. I know you love drinking.
Alcohol is a lubricant for the mind, and the engine starts by injecting gasoline. I feel like drinking a little more tonight… so I accidentally ordered an extra Hoppy and ordered a bottle of shochu…

“Gokujo Takara Shochu” is a leader in the world of shochu that is equally popular with Kinmiya. I don’t know what is so great about it, but it makes me feel excited. I also ordered more Tsumami. Meat shumai and hanpen cheese fries. The speed at which I can drink hoppy also accelerates.

I drank too much, so let’s go home with this today.
What is tradition? What is evolution? It was a standing bar experience that made me think about a lot of things.
Will the Drunk Uncle evolve or degenerate? I don’t feel like that, so I’m going to go back home today instead of going to hostess bar.
