Hoppy doesn’t get me drunk enough…cheap sake is good, but sometimes I want to drink local good sake…
There’s a place in Funabashi that will satisfy the desires of such a selfish, Drunk Uncle.

Hi, it’s “Drunk Uncle”!

Today I went to “Taishu Bar Futopparaya Funabashi Store” in Funabashi on my way home from work.

Hoppy is good, and hot sake with second-class sake is good too, but sometimes you just want to drink local sake, the good one…
I ended up at a bar after wandering the winding back alleys of JR Funabashi Station and Keisei Funabashi Station…
And so, today I accidentally ended up at a “Taishu Sake Bar.” It’s a bar I’ve never visited before, and I ended up staggering around. The bar’s appearance is very nice, with its curtains and red lanterns…

The counter was crowded with regulars, so I went to a table in the back.
A selection of local sakes engraved on the mirror… looks what I wanted…

Looking at the sake menu… Hmm, not bad. You can enjoy 16 drinks…
“Drunk Uncle”, who hates lies, was convinced at this point that the “Sake” sign and the bar’s name, “Taishu Sake Bar,” were not false.
Deciding what to have as a snack, there was sashimi, skewers, and a variety of a la carte dishes. To go with the sake, I chose fish.
I ordered Kid from Wakayama and sashimi.

The interior of the bar was plastered with sake labels, giving a sense of their commitment to sake.
*Sorry, I accidentally forgot to take a photo.

The appetizers are brought out. “Kid” is poured in generously, smoothly and easily. It’s nice. In this case, “Drunk Uncle” always goes to welcome the glass with the mouth.
The sashimi that comes with the appetizer is very fresh, and although I was asked what type of fish it was, I naturally don’t remember it, but sashimi is always delicious.

I drink about half the glass and then pour the sake from the plate below into my glass. It’s like a refill and makes me happy.
And before I know it, I’ve run out of “Kid”… It’s rude to the brewer to gulp it down like it’s second-class sake, so I’ll stop for now, let’s drink gently.

For my second drink I ordered “Shimeharitsuru” from Niigata. This one was also poured smoothly and generously.
There was no need for me to lecture on the topic of “Niigata sake is blah blah…”or “sake from rice-growing regions is blah blah…” or anything like that. I was so drunk I couldn’t even taste anything. But I still knew, it was good sake.

I really wanted to drink all 16 glasses, but I told myself I had to work the next morning and left the bar after paying the bill. This was a great place that served delicious sake. Thank you very much.
